Some action on “Natural Mystic” our Bertram 31.
Mr & Mrs A just concluded their three day fishing charter with us. They stayed at Sandals La Toc and although the fishing was not as lively as we hoped their was still some good action. They chartered Reel Affair, our Bertram 38 and started every morning at 7am. We caught our biggest Wahoo to date which weighed 66 pounds, and we also had a White Marlin which provided some good entertainment. Fishing along most of the islands west coast also gave them to chance to see most of the island point of interest including Pigeon Island, Marigot Bay, Soufriere and the famous Piton Mountains.
April so far has been one of our best fishing months this year because of the wide variety of fish being caught. The Dorado we have been catching are roughly between 20 – 30 pounds which makes for very good fighting, especially when we get multiple strikes! On Sunday we had 4 huge Dorado hook ups’ at once. They were all landed and weighed in at 96 pounds combined.
The Wahoo have been coming up for the bait in pairs and there is no greater sound than a screaming reel that has just snapped the outrigger. These Wahoo can swim at up to 60 mph. The average size of the wahoo have been around 40 pounds. We land one out of every two Wahoo strikes and they put up a really good fight.
On average the guys are getting Marlin and Sailfish hook ups 3 times a week with the Sailfish averaging about 80 pounds and Blue Marlin between 350 – 500 pounds.
On our last full day fishing excursion “Natural Mystic” our Bertram 31 had 2 Marlins, landed 6 Dorado and 3 Wahoo.
